The Alachua County Board of County Commissioners is embarking on a public information campaign to get the word out on the Scenic Roads program. You may nominate a road for Scenic Road Designation here, or you may learn more about currently designated roads here.

Alachua County possesses many historical values, cultural traditions, and elements of unique beauty and charm, including scenic roads which portray historical significance and/or natural beauty.

The population explosion in the Sunshine State, both by individuals and industry, needs to be addressed so as not to lose these attributes. It is desirable that reasonable steps be taken to prevent destruction of the County's heritage and to ensure the preservation and maintenance of these historically significant and/or naturally beautiful roadways for the enhancement of the quality of life for society and future generations.

Since 1980, at the conception of the Scenic Roads Program, five County roads have been designated as "scenic:" Old Bellamy Road, Millhopper Road, Crown Road, Fort Clark Church Road, and Dusty Trail.

Join Alachua County in celebrating its heritage by visiting one of these roads, just remember to respect the flora, the fauna and the speed limits.
